The final blog post of this year, wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year :-)

As the Winter Solstice arrives once more, and things begin to slow down a bit just before celebrations and festivities take off again, my hope is for a moment to pause in the quiet of winter, to take a breath, and to begin to look forward to the light returning once again.

I'm also hoping that we'll do something gentle together as a family, maybe away from the shops - or, if we do go shopping, perhaps taking some extra moments to enjoy all the sparkling Christmas lights, possibly a walk outside, or a candlelit meal - something to uplift our energy at this darkest point of the year.

I made this sparkly star wreath earlier in December - as a craft tutorial for PowerWood. I also really wanted to make something like this to add to our own seasonal decorations here at home as I had a particular spot in mind for it to hang and was so pleased with how striking and pretty it turned out. It occurred to me that it would have been a lovely simple solstice craft to do together as a family once the busy days of December slowed down a bit. Cutting out the stars was quite soothing in it's hands-on, repetitive but simple way...

It's also a great excuse to put some of the cardboard flowing into our homes at this time of year to re-use in a beautiful and uplifting way. You can find the full tutorial (with enlarged slides) here.

However you are spending your days this festive period, wishing you a fun-filled, peaceful and uplifting festive period celebrating with family and friends, as well as a happy, healthy and inspiring start to 2026!
